I’m Pauline Warde. I’ve been in the construction industry for over 30 years and since 2006, I have been running my own business, PW Design NI Limited, a structural engineering consultancy.
In recent years, I noticed a need for timber-framed loft conversions for Northern Ireland homes, but the cost was astronomical, and the home was unlivable while the conversion took place. I was convinced there must be an easier and more cost-effective way to help these homeowners, and that’s how the Ponte System was born.
The demand for house space has increased dramatically in recent years. One solution is to convert loft space into a usable area, thus eliminating the need to take space away from the garden and in most cases negate the need for Planning Approval. However, timber-framed homes are notoriously difficult to convert due to the limited load-bearing capacity of the frame. Considering the widespread use of timber-frames in home construction across the UK, this is a huge drawback. Thankfully, Chartered Engineer Pauline Warde has invented a unique solution.
With the Ponte System , you gain space in your roof area, adding value to your property utilising a much cheaper and less disruptive alternative than, for example, stud strengthening through the full height of the home, bringing steel posts down through the house, roof replacement or installation of close centred beams at ceiling level.
